Today Year 6 took part in a science workshop for their new topic of electricity. We looked at electrical safety, the history of the use of electricity and creating and constructing circuits to achieve specific goals. You can see the pictures below:
Today we had a visit from Fort Alice who came to talk to the children about healthy relationships. The children had a fantastic afternoon and learnt lots of useful information about building healthy relationships in the future. You can see the pictures below:
Today the children watched the production of Alice in Wonderland from MM Theatre Productions. Following the fantastic show, the actors gave Year 6 a workshop in all aspects of theatre production including characters, costumes, scenery and stage directions. It is hoped that this will inspire the children and help them in our own end of year production later on this year. You can see pictures from the workshop below:
As part of our ‘Discovery topic’, children have been researching Christopher Columbus and his Voyage of Discovery. They then used their research, to present a game show in pairs where they acted as the interviewer and Christopher Columbus and presented the information that they have discovered in a question / answer session. You can see the pictures below:
This week Year 6 are writing instructions and as a hook into our writing lesson, we made our own Harry Potter potions. We watched a short clip of the film and then designed our own recipe and created it from a selection of gruesome ingredients. This enabled the children to plan their instructions ready to write tomorrow. You can see the video below.
As part of our literacy writing work, the children have been writing their own version of the TV show ‘Most Haunted’.
A few weeks ago researched the alleged ‘ghostly encounters’ at Smithills Hall and then wrote reports about what we had discovered. Today we visited Smithills Hall to film our reports so that we can produce our videos during our ICT lessons.
The videos will be appearing on this blog over the coming weeks but you can see some of the pictures below:
