This morning Year 4 have been preparing food as part of their design and technology work. They have baked bread and will soon be preparing meat /vegetable kebabs ready for their parent pop in this afternoon. You can see some of the pictures below.
As part of our ‘Invaders and Settlers’ topic, Year 4 had a visiting Viking in class on Friday. It was such a fun and fantastic day and the chidlren learnt so much about the Vikings!
They discovered facts about the Viking raids, acted out role plays (in which Mr Lane and Mrs Yarwood were the ‘slaughtered monks’), learnt about Viking weapons and also about what daily life was like for Vikings when they weren’t in battle.
As you can see from the pictures, the children had a wonderful day and learnt lots of new information to help with our topic work.
Today was world book day and the children came dressed as their favourite character. We had some amazing costumes so well done for a fantastic effort!
To celebrate the day we read more of our class text ‘The Demon Headmaster’ and then created some brilliant character descriptions of the headmaster. We also gave the children some scenarios for them to discuss and recommend to the characters how to solve the problem. Following this we created some role plays from these scenarios and shared them with the class. Children also brought their favourite book and explained to the other children why it is such a good read.

We were lucky today to have Sister Dorothy in our class. We have been discussing the Lords Prayer and the true meaning of each line. The children have worked hard to understand some of the more unusual words / phrases, so that they can recognise the meaning when they say the prayer in assembly. Thank you Sister Dorothy!
We were very excited today as it was our first chance to use the new school iPads. As part of our ict work we have been looking at animation and the children used the lessons to practise using time lapse photos to create an animation. Here are some pictures of the children engaged in their task:
This half term, we are receiving expert coaching from Kearsley Academy on athletics. The skills we are developing over the next 6 weeks will be used in competition when we take part in sports day next term. We will be looking at a range of activities including running, relay, throwing and jumping. You can see some of the pictures from our first session below.
