Literacy challenge

Good morning Year 6 πŸ™‚

For your Literacy challenge this week, I would like you to write a poem. Reflect on your time at St Peter’s and think about all the fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding times you have had here. I’m sure you have so many memories of your time at our school and a poem is a lovely way to record how you are feeling right now for you to read in the future.

You can choose what kind of poem you would like to write. Perhaps you’d like to write an acrostic poem, or maybe a limerick, or it could be a poem that rhymes. Maybe you’d like to write a free verse poem! It’s entirely up to you πŸ™‚

Please send your finished poems to us at – all of your teachers would love to read them πŸ™‚

Hello Year 6 πŸ™‚

I have attached the resources for this week’s Picture News for you.

This week looks at the recent news that people are now able to travel for holidays to certain countries without having to quarantine when they return to the UK. The question for you to think about this week is ‘are holidays important?’

Have a look through the resources above and let me know what your opinions are, I would love to have a discussion with you.

Musical challenge

Good morning Year 6 πŸ™‚

I have a crafty challenge for you today!

I’d like you to have a go at making your own musical instrument, using materials you’d find in your house like cardboard boxes and elastic bands. I’ve attached some images below to give you some inspiration.

Think about the instrument you’d like to make and what genre of music your instrument might be used in. Could you create an instrument used in samba music? Or perhaps in classical music? Or maybe rock music? It’s entirely up to you! See if you can take a video of you using your instrument and send it over to us at – we would love to see it πŸ™‚

End of Year Challenge Time!

I’ve had a look back through the scores over for the last year and the highest score was a massive

65,584 points

achieved by Year 4 Green back in March 2020 just before Lockdown.

This weeks battle will run untilΒ Friday 17th JulyΒ which is the last day of term, giving you two weeks to try and beat the score. The class that manages to beat or even come close to this score will receive a TT Rock Star pencil each on their return to school in September.

Let the final battle commence…….
