Musical challenge

Good morning Year 6 πŸ™‚

I have a crafty challenge for you today!

I’d like you to have a go at making your own musical instrument, using materials you’d find in your house like cardboard boxes and elastic bands. I’ve attached some images below to give you some inspiration.

Think about the instrument you’d like to make and what genre of music your instrument might be used in. Could you create an instrument used in samba music? Or perhaps in classical music? Or maybe rock music? It’s entirely up to you! See if you can take a video of you using your instrument and send it over to us at superlearner@st-peters-farnworth.bolton.sch.uk – we would love to see it πŸ™‚

End of Year Challenge Time!

I’ve had a look back through the scores over for the last year and the highest score was a massive

65,584 points

achieved by Year 4 Green back in March 2020 just before Lockdown.

This weeks battle will run untilΒ Friday 17th JulyΒ which is the last day of term, giving you two weeks to try and beat the score. The class that manages to beat or even come close to this score will receive a TT Rock Star pencil each on their return to school in September.

Let the final battle commence…….

Survey Challenge

Good morning Year 6 πŸ™‚

I have a new challenge for you today! This week I would like you to create your own survey to find out about people’s views and experiences about the Coronavirus lockdown.

You need to write your own questions and think about how people will answer then: will there be simple yes or no questions? Multiple choice questions? A question requiring a detailed answer? Try to include a range of question types.

A few example questions could be:
What has been your favourite thing about the lockdown?
Have you learnt a new skill during lockdown?
What have you found the most difficult during lockdown?

You could start by asking people in your household and then asking relatives, friends or neighbours whilst maintaining social distancing πŸ™‚

Once you’ve collected your answers, think about how you could present the information you have found. I’d love to hear some of the things you find out.

As always, you can email your work to us at superlearner@st-peters-farnworth.bolton.sch.uk – we would love to see it πŸ™‚

Your maths challenge this week is all about conducting your own investigations outdoors!

On each challenge card there is a statement which you need to prove is right or wrong. You need to think about how you can prove your answers mathematically and what methods you may need to use to help you.

I look forward to hearing how you get on with these challenges Year 6 πŸ™‚
