Autumn 1 so far in Year 5B

What a great start to the year! Year 5B have already done and learned so much already.

We have looked at those who risked their lives to translate the Bible in RE. We reminded ourselves of the continents and European countries in Topic as we prepare to compare and contrast our local area with the Lake District. In science, we have been looking at the properties of materials and have developed our working scientifically skills of asking question, planning an enquiry, making predictions and drawing conclusions. The children have made a super start with their writing and are beginning to apply the new sentence types that they have learned. We are really enjoying our class text, The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh: it’s heart felt and funny. We have been focusing on the 4 calculations operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in maths. Year 5 have had a fabulous food technology morning with Ms Langley. In PE, we have been learning to dribble with control and tackle safely.

Today, the children celebrated European languages day in class and listened really carefully to Madame Harris’ lesson about regions in France. We discussed the importance of learning a language and how each language is a key to unlock the world and understating the culture of others. We were so involved that we forgot to take some photos of the children dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate – oh no! We have got some pictures to share or our some of our learning so far though.

keep up the great work Year 5 Blue!
