Super Scents!0 (0)
In Science this week, we have focused on our sense of smell. We did a blindfolded investigation to see if we could identify (and if we liked) certain scents and aromas using just our noses. We discovered that we most liked the vanilla and banana scents although the screams of ‘my mum drinks this!’ to the coffee sample made us giggle! We then decided we would like to test out our sense of taste – cinnamon was our least favourite but we loved the toothpaste!

Year 6 Blue Science5 (1)
It was the turn of Year 6 Blue to be visited by Mr Simmons today. It was an amazing experience getting to see how a heart works and learning from real life experiences. Some of us have decided that working in a medical field is definitely for us…while some of us decided that it definitely isn’t! We are so lucky to be able to have these opportunities. A big thank you to Mr Simmons for sharing his knowledge and expertise and enhancing our Science work on the circulatory system.

Year 3 Green : how is water transported in plants?0 (0)
Year 3 Green wore their investigation caps today and experimented in their science lesson. We learned that water is transported within plants through xylem in the stem. We observed the vascular system in a Celery plant stem because it is easy to see. Children used magnifying glasses to observe the xylem.
We placed a celery stem with leaves in a glass of water mixed with strong, powdered red food colouring. We will leave it for 24 hours and observe the results tomorrow.
Children drew and labelled a diagram and made a prediction about what they think will observe tomorrow and why they think this will happen.

This term our topic in science is plants and how they grow. Y3G learned the process of pollination through an interesting activity. Children dived into different characters as flowers and pollinators to understand how a flower is pollinated.

This week reception have been learning about minibeasts! We have been exploring the habitats that they live in by going on a minibeast hunt. We have shown lots of care to these insects and learned lots of interesting facts about them.

Year1 Green – NowPressPlay Winter0 (0)
Today we went on a winter adventure with NowPressPlay. We learnt about the different types of weather we experience in winter and what clothes we need to wear. We found out about which animals may hibernate and how we have less daylight.
