What a year!

We’ve had a wonderful year in Y5B. The children have worked so hard and had a lot of laughs along the way. A massive thank you to you all from the staff for your gifts, cards and kind words, not only today but throughout the year. It means a lot. Have a wonderful summer…I wonder how long it will take me to remember to call them Year 6 in September!

Here are a few memories from the year and ending with this crazy, busy week!

What a treat we all (adults too) had today when the ice cream van arrived just in time for break! Thank you Mrs Scott and Mrs Buckley for organising this for us. 🍦❤️

Year 5 at the Zoo continued…

Yesterday the children absolutely loved the zoo and ticking off their animals (Thank you Mrs Buckley). I warned my group beforehand that we’d be doing some steps that day… we finished on 20 thousand! Sorry guys. My map skills aren’t as good as I thought.

Year 5 at the Zoo

We have had an amazing day at Chester Zoo. Memories have been made, animals on wish lists have been seen and we did not stop from start to finish. The penguins, flamingos and monkeys were firm favourites. I think the final photos show how exhausted we all were but it was the best kind of tired. A few children asked if we could go back next year – even after 13,000 steps! There are so many photographs it will take a while to add them all but here are the first ones…

Get Comfy and Read

We have had the best day in Year 5 Blue today. We unpacked so many amazing books and we are so excited to get started on reading them! Getting comfy with our blankets, cushions and pj’s was a wonderful and very well deserved way to end assessment week. A huge thank you to the National Literacy Trust for this incredible scheme.

Year 5 Green Sweepstake
0 (0)

This week, our Year 5 sweepstake teams were revealed! From the picture, you can clearly see that some children were absolutely thrilled with their picks, while others were not quite so pleased and immediately began pleading for team swaps. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option!

To keep everything fair, I used my trusty randomiser to allocate the teams. In fact, to my own detriment, I was left picking last!

The tournament is well underway. I’ve reminded the children that they can always catch up with the highlights, although some of our most dedicated fans are already trying to stay up for a few of the later matches. We can’t wait to see whose team goes all the way!

Another busy week in Y5B
0 (0)

We have been busy bees again in Year 5 this week. In Maths we have been learning about volume and were challenged to create our own shapes with specific volumes. We also had fun in the hall completing challenges with James from Rees Sports and playing together in times we got outside between rain showers! It has got very competitive now the World Cup has started. We all drew out a team to follow. One of our class was off to a flyer when Mexico won on Thursday. I wonder who will win…?
