Well done to our children who have achieved 100% attendance this term.

Well done to our children who have achieved 100% attendance this term.

This week, 6 Green have been investigating switches as part of their electricity unit within science. They have created home-made toggle switches, push switches, pressure switches and in some cases, tilt switches.

Today, 6 Green took part in French Day, where they learnt about the country of Belgium, including its main cities and linguistic make-up (Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia). They then looked at Belgian comics, including Tintin, Asterix and the Smurfs. From this, they designed a new character to fit within the world of Asterix the Gaul and created a short comic strip to tell their character’s story.

Our KS2 children competed against local schools in an athletics competition after school. Over all they came second, which was amazing! Between them they won lots of medals too. Well done everyone!

It was Year 6’s last Sports day last Friday and luckily the weather was good to us, it was a fantastic turnout and the children all did amazing.

It’s been another busy week in Year 6, with show practices in full swing and the children demonstrating their creative talents with a wonderful arts show on Friday! It was wonderful to see so many parents attending to see the children’s fantastic efforts! Earlier in the day, 6 Green had also been learning to play chords from ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ on the ukuleles with Minshall Music. On Thursday, their Commando Joe session involved team work and strategy, as they found ways to steal each groups’ cones. A fantastic week – well done 6 Green!

Year 6 blue had a brilliant two days doing their Bikeability. All the children made fantastic progress and the staff are incredibly proud of the determination and resilience shown.

Yesterday was the second day of 6 Green’s Bikeability course. Once again the children were fantastic, with lots of effort being put in by all groups. Well done Y6! So many of you passed not only Level 1 but also Level 2! Fantastic!
Today we started our new PE topic, Athletics. We focused on running working on our stamina and agility. Well done to our Sports Stars this week which were Lucas & Violet.

This week, 6 Green have continued to learn about Light within Science lessons. Today they looked at the relationship between the angles of incidence and reflection when light reflects off of mirrors. Our results showed that they are equal to one another (albeit with some error when drawing chalk lines and measuring angles using a protractor).
Today we were back with Commando Joe, our challenge was to build a multi purpose vehicle. Plenty of communication and team work skills were needed to cheat a vehicle that could cope with water, land, snow, mountains and valleys. Some very interesting creations.
