Mr Pogorzelec Yesterday the children absolutely loved the zoo and ticking off their animals (Thank you Mrs Buckley). I warned my group beforehand that we’d be doing some steps that day… we finished on 20 thousand! Sorry guys. My map skills aren’t as good as I thought.
A big thankyou to the National Literacy Trust for sending lots of new books to freshen up our libraries. The children were super excited to read these!
This week, our Year 5 sweepstake teams were revealed! From the picture, you can clearly see that some children were absolutely thrilled with their picks, while others were not quite so pleased and immediately began pleading for team swaps. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option!
To keep everything fair, I used my trusty randomiser to allocate the teams. In fact, to my own detriment, I was left picking last!
The tournament is well underway. I’ve reminded the children that they can always catch up with the highlights, although some of our most dedicated fans are already trying to stay up for a few of the later matches. We can’t wait to see whose team goes all the way!

Yesterday, Year 5 visited Harper Green High School as part of Farnworth Matters. During the visit, the children had the opportunity to listen to an engaging guest speaker who shared valuable insights into a wide range of careers. He spoke in detail about his own career in the police force, where he has served for over 20 years in a variety of roles.
The talk also highlighted the importance of key personal traits such as bravery, discipline, and determination, explaining how these qualities have supported him throughout his career.
In addition, he shared his passion outside of work as a Ju Jitsu instructor, showing the children how interests and hobbies can play an important role alongside a professional career.

Today, Year 5 took part in a fantastic and inspiring workshop led by Azeem Amir from Learn with ESS. The workshop helped us learn more about disability awareness and how people can face challenges in their everyday lives — and more importantly, how those challenges can be overcome
