Our ukulele lessons with Minshall music are really coming along, Year 4 are now at the stage of playing the tune “I’m yours” ready for recording next week. We really do have some amazing musicians in the class.
This afternoon in PSHE and as part of Mental Health day on Saturday 10th October, year 4 created their own personal identity constellation to show some things that make them the person they are, this could include something that they enjoy, something they are proud of or care about or things they could get better at.
Year 4’s netball skills are really progressing and we have now moved onto playing some matches. Their passing and shooting techniques have really improved over the past couple of weeks and year 4 have shown their competitive streaks when playing against each other.
Yesterday in Science year 4 explored methods of sorting animals into groups of warm blooded and cold blooded, we took the opportunity to do this task outside in the lovely sunshine.
In this mornings PSHE lesson, year 4 explored how exercise affects our hearts, different types of exercises, things that would help set us up for the day like food types and sleep patterns and how important it is to stay hydrated.
4 Blue have been learning about Roman numerals and it has to be said, they were fantastic! Within the lesson they were able to translate Roman numerals into digits and also digits into Roman numerals. Many children also managed to add and subtract using them! Well done Y4!
4 Blue have been working on their classification of living things. They have learnt what vertebrates are (animals with back bones) and have sorted and classified them into their five groups: fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. They have also looked at the key features of each group – example: birds have wings, feathers, beaks and are warm-blooded. They also looked at invertebrates (animals without back bones) and again explored different groups, including insects, arachnids, annelids, crustaceans etc. They worked really hard! Well done!
This term, Madame Harris is delivering our French lessons and Year 4 will be covering the vocabulary names for some pets and animals, how to say what pets they have, how to describe pets using colour and size and how word order changes when using description. Today, Year 4 had to fill in the missing gaps of some sentences and discussed the words Grand and Petit.
This afternoon in PE we have been practicing our shooting skills in netball, we also practiced our passing, the children demonstrated some really good techniques and got some amazing goals in.
This term in science, year 4 are learning all about living things and their habitats and in today’s lesson they learnt about vertebrates and invertebrates and separated them into two groups.
