Year 6 Green science
5 (1)

Today Mr Simmons helped us to bring our science to life by bringing in real lambs hearts to support our learning about the circulatory system. We got to touch and explore the various chambers and gain a deeper understanding about how the heart works.

Year 6 Blue Science

It was the turn of Year 6 Blue to be visited by Mr Simmons today. It was an amazing experience getting to see how a heart works and learning from real life experiences. Some of us have decided that working in a medical field is definitely for us…while some of us decided that it definitely isn’t! We are so lucky to be able to have these opportunities. A big thank you to Mr Simmons for sharing his knowledge and expertise and enhancing our Science work on the circulatory system.

Year 6 Blue

What a first few weeks! It has been so busy in our class. The children have started their new text ‘The Lion Above the Door’ and we have already had some excellent discussions about the issues it highlights. We have started our Games lessons with Rees Sports and had our new class photo. Mrs Simmons has only slipped up 4 or 5 times and called them Year 5! The children are working really hard and we are excited to see all that they achieve this year.

What a year!

We’ve had a wonderful year in Y5B. The children have worked so hard and had a lot of laughs along the way. A massive thank you to you all from the staff for your gifts, cards and kind words, not only today but throughout the year. It means a lot. Have a wonderful summer…I wonder how long it will take me to remember to call them Year 6 in September!

Here are a few memories from the year and ending with this crazy, busy week!

Year 5 at the Zoo continued…

Yesterday the children absolutely loved the zoo and ticking off their animals (Thank you Mrs Buckley). I warned my group beforehand that we’d be doing some steps that day… we finished on 20 thousand! Sorry guys. My map skills aren’t as good as I thought.

Year 5 at the Zoo

We have had an amazing day at Chester Zoo. Memories have been made, animals on wish lists have been seen and we did not stop from start to finish. The penguins, flamingos and monkeys were firm favourites. I think the final photos show how exhausted we all were but it was the best kind of tired. A few children asked if we could go back next year – even after 13,000 steps! There are so many photographs it will take a while to add them all but here are the first ones…

Get Comfy and Read

We have had the best day in Year 5 Blue today. We unpacked so many amazing books and we are so excited to get started on reading them! Getting comfy with our blankets, cushions and pj’s was a wonderful and very well deserved way to end assessment week. A huge thank you to the National Literacy Trust for this incredible scheme.
