6 Green continued to develop their teamwork, cooperation and their resilience whilst working with Commando Joe’s. The aim… work together to move the balls from one bucket to the other without them dropping.

On Wednesday 2nd October, 6 Green visited Bolton Schools ICT to take part in their Strawbees workshop. Throughout the day, the children used skills and knowledge from DT, Art, Science and algorithms in Computing to create mini robots capable of reading the temperature, displaying messages, playing tunes and waving its arm. We had a fabulous day!

Y6 visited Stockport Air Raid Shelter to support their learning from Y5’s topic, World War II, alongside their Y6 work in English with the book, ‘The Lion Above the Door’. It was a fantastic day, with the children visiting Stockport Museum, to look at period clothing and household items, including using a mangle to rinse out wet clothes. They then ventured into the cold tunnels, seeing what life was like for both the people taking shelter and those who worked there.

We had a great trip to Farnworth Library yesterday. The children were wonderfully behaved and spent time on a book hunt to familiarise themselves with the library. They spotted familiar books and those they’d like to read in the future and had a story time about the Mist Monster. We were also excited about the introduction to the summer reading challenge. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome. We are so lucky to have this wonderful resource in our community.

On Monday we had a super session with the poet Ian Bland. These are our poems based on his work. We hope you enjoy them!

We had another great session with Project Chameleon yesterday. We learned a lot about domestic abuse and healthy relationships. This was a very important session and we learned a lot. Thank you Ruth. We also did the bleep test again – our fitness is improving!
