Year 5 visit Moses Gate
5 (2)

We had a wonderful visit to Moses Gate yesterday despite all having very tired legs by the time we got back to school! We learned all about the different wildlife and plants you can see and how some of them came to be in the UK via the Victorians. We found beetles on leaves and learned about the birds who used the posts to dry off because their wings are not waterproof. We even saw an egret – can you spot it on the photos? Playing a game called ‘edible or deadible’ was fun too, learning about how people use plants to create food – we wonder if anyone has ever had nettle soup? We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep.

Year 5G Trip to the library

We had a great trip to Farnworth Library yesterday. The children were wonderfully behaved and spent time on a book hunt to familiarise themselves with the library. They spotted familiar books and those they’d like to read in the future and had a story time about the Mist Monster. We were also excited about the introduction to the summer reading challenge. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome. We are so lucky to have this wonderful resource in our community.

Thank you to Fort Alice who delivered our second workshop this morning. We learned about the different types of bullying and who our trusted adults might be if we need to speak to someone in different situations. We also spent time talking about choices and consequences. We learned a lot!

Project Chameleon – Week 2
0 (0)

The session today was all about the differences between burglary, robbery and theft. Do you know what the differences are?

We looked at consequences of these crimes from both sides and had very interesting discussions about our opinions on this. It was another super session and we ended with the bleep test – we were exhausted by the end! We are really looking forward to next week too.

This afternoon we welcomed Ruth into our classroom and we found out what the next ten weeks of Project Chameleon would be about. We can’t wait to get started. Today we talked about choices and consequences – every action has a consequence whether that is positive or negative. It was a super first session and we are really looking forward to next week!

We had an amazing time on our walk up Rivington today. The children embraced the walk and enjoyed the opportunity to get wet and muddy! I am so proud of them.

Thank you to all our families and friends who have sponsored the children and made this event a success. We are so appreciative of all your support.
