Mr C Wakes

We have been loving the challenge of our Commando Joe sessions. We need to work as a team and use our problem solving skills to find the solutions to lots of problems.

This week majority of us have enjoyed swimming every day to improve our skills. In English we became rapping grandmas and created a music video for ‘Gran, can you rap?”, which will be released at the beginning of next week. We also focused on different GAPs skills like homophones and apostrophes. In maths we looked at fractions and their equivalent in decimals.In topic we looked at how the Anglo Saxons lived and how it is different to now and also the Romans. In RE we looked at why Muslims pray and how it makes them feel. In Commando Joe we had left all our water on the other space ship and had to use a piece of paper to transfer it. In music we read some musical notes that we could play on our trombones.

Today we took our Maths lesson to the hall. We took part in lots of races and games using our decimal and fraction knowledge to find equivalents of tenths and hundredths.

Year 4 have loved recording Gran can you rap? Please enjoy our performance!

This week has been poetry week in English. We have looked at the features of different poems and then performed “Gran you rap in different groups”. We used this poem to create our own concrete poem. In maths we have been looking at fractions and how to add different fractions. In science we looked at how to read thermometers. In topic we looked at who the Anglo-Saxons were and where they came from. In RE we looked at different prayers for Muslims. In commando Joe we created safety huts for on the moon.  In music we continued with our trombones.

Year 4 Green love getting creative on CSFirst. This week, we have been designing our own Google Logos and have added speech, actions and sounds!

In Y4B this week we have had a busy week. In science we have been looking at solid liquid and gas and planning our experiment. During commando Joe we were astronauts. We worked in pairs to carry oxygen on our backs. In music we continued our music on the trombones.

Year 4 Green have loved reading The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo. Today we took part in a little bit of book talk and had a great discussion about this wonderful story. Ask your child about the big reveal at the end!

We had a fantastic morning in our Commando Joe session! We completed lots of difficult tasks which required us to work as a team.
