World Book Day! We dressed in our pyjamas and brought our favourite teddy for a bedtime story session today 🫛📚 Thank you to Cheryl for reading us some fantastic stories – we had a great time!

We had a great day at The Fireground in Rochdale today. We learnt lots of interesting facts to hook us in to our new topic this half term – The Great Fire of London.

Today, we took part in a virtual, live assembly hosted by Picture News. This was a special assembly joined by schools all over the country to raise awareness during Children’s Mental Health Week 2025. The assembly helped us to understand this years theme, ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’, which aims to teach us how to focus on techniques and strategies to overcome any struggles or worries we may have.

It was a particularly wet and rainy day today which was a great talking point for our Topic lesson – ‘How does the weather affect us?’. We discussed how the weather can impact our lives and how it can differ in different areas, both within the U.K. and worldwide. We explored how weather could affect our clothing, our jobs and our homes. We discussed extreme weather patterns, such as the current hurricane in Florida and looked at how proximity to the equator affects the weather. We then prepared and researched our own weather forecasts and performed them to the class.

As part of our topic, ‘Around the World’, we have recently been looking at how to understand maps. We have also looked at different geological features and whether they are human or physical. To support our learning, Mrs Smith took us on a walk around the local area, where we made a tally chart of the various features we saw. We found shops, a park, a post box, a supermarket and lots of houses!

We had a session with Commando Joe’s today who helps build resilience and self confidence by using team building exercises. These character building tasks really helped us gain confidence and self-worth.

We really enjoyed our second session with Rees Sports this morning. Well done to Carter and Halo for being awarded sport’s stars of the week!
