Year 6 26-27

On Tuesday 14th October, Year 6 joined the rest of the school watching M and M Productions’ version of Peter Pen. It was a loud and engaging show, with Mr Simmons happy to see one of his favourite characters… Tick-Tock the Crocodile!

6 Green investigated how exercise affects their pulse rate (number of heart beats per minute). To do this, they worked incredibly hard at doing literally nothing, before measuring their resting pulse rate. They then ran on the spot as fast as they could for a minute, before measuring their pulse rate again. They then measured it a further twice, looking at their recovery rates.

On Friday 26th September, Y6 Green took part in the school’s celebration of European Day of Languages. We started our day with an assembly with Madam Harris, looking at a range of languages from around the world. We then visited Mrs. Buckley’s languages cafe in the studio where we tried dates, olives and other foods from countries including Italy and Cyprus. In class, we learnt about Delft tiles from the Netherlands and information about Italy. We also made greetings wheels using wooden plates, writing various messages on them in different languages.

On Thursday in year 6 blue Mr Simmons brought our current Science topic to life. Year 6 are currently learning about the heart and circulatory system. Mr Simmons brought a Lamb’s heart into the classroom which he dissected to show all the different parts and then the children got a chance to hold and feel the heart.
