Y6 really got back into the swing of it this week, with PE and French all starting and music continuing. In PE, the children started to familiarise themselves with rugby balls. They were doing amazingly until the hailstones decided that we had worked hard enough! For the second week, the children continued to learn how to play chords on the ukuleles – they are certainly better at it than Mr Simmons! Finally, Madame Harris taught their first Y6 French lesson, with some excellent speaking based on where we live. A great week 6 Green! Keep it up!
Today we had our first music lesson of the new year. We learned and named the different parts of the Ukulele before we started to play our instruments.
Our KS2 children competed against local schools in an athletics competition after school. Over all they came second, which was amazing! Between them they won lots of medals too. Well done everyone!
This half-term, Year 5B have been exploring how music can be used to create atmosphere — and We’ve been focusing on creating an eerie atmosphere! Some really creative pieces being made!
We are enjoying learning the ukuleles in our Music lessons this half term. We are getting much better at playing chords but some of them are very tricky!
We have had another great session with Commando Joes this morning. We focused on working as a team to fulfill a challenge. We had to learn more about listening, sharing ideas and working together.

The Shine Team are entering the 2025 Spirited Arts completion. The children can choose from a number of themes on which to base their entry. Our Shine team have chosen the theme ‘living in a diverse world.’
The shine team have spent the last few weeks thinking about diversity and why having a diverse community is important and is something to be celebrated, respected and encouraged.
The children have have created a piece of art work to represent diversity in our community and written two poems to share their views on the importance of diversity, respect and tolerance.
The children have shared some lovely ideas about how we can ensure our community is a safe and welcoming place for all people.
They will enter the competition in June

Let’s embrace and celebrate who people are and who they want to be.
If someone has a different colour of skin,
Don’t treat them rudely
Respect all ideas whether they come from the young or the old:
All stories are worth being told.

Compassionate and caring is what we should be

which are wonderful to see.
