We had a fabulous day experiencing the languages and traditions of different European countries. We wrote words of peace, designed some beautiful Delft inspired tiles and had a wonderful time in our cafe!
Year 5 Green have loved celebrating European Languages Day! We sang a song during assembly and learned fun facts about European countries and traditions. The best part was tasting foods such as olive oil, tzatziki, French baguette, cucumber, olives, figs, and crunchy breadsticks.

Madam Harris kicked off our European Day of Languages with a fantastic assembly all about languages from across Europe. Our assembly was finished off by a performance from our year 5 singing a song which they have been learning in their lessons with Madam Harris.
In PE today, Year 5 worked with Rees Sports to develop their football skills, focusing on dribbling. The children practised control, speed, and movement with the ball, showing great determination and teamwork throughout the session.
In last week’s music lesson, We listened to opera for the very first time and decided what we liked and disliked about it! We explored how voices, instruments, and drama work together to tell powerful stories and how it make us feel.
It was another busy week in Y5B this week. We are really enjoying our class novel and hope you are enjoying Billy’s jokes. Rees Sport are keeping us moving with football skills and we have loved using digimaps to explore how Farnworth has changed. It’s amazing!
The children have made a wonderful start to their reading journey in Year 5 and are showing a real dedication to reading at home. Mrs Simmons thinks they are all settling brilliantly!
Year 5 Blue have had a wonderful first week back. We have got to know each other, sharing things we love. We have started our new class book ‘The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh’ and have lots of jokes to share. We finished our first week with PE. It has been very busy!

Our KS2 children competed against local schools in an athletics competition after school. Over all they came second, which was amazing! Between them they won lots of medals too. Well done everyone!
