What a fun week we’ve had in Year 5B! We kicked things off with some basketball drills—and wow, Y5B brought their A-game. There was loads of energy as we worked on dribbling.

In topic, we travelled back to Ancient Greece and had a big class debate: who had it better—Athenians or Spartans? One side argued for brains and democracy, while the other backed strength and discipline. Everyone made some brilliant points, and it was great to see them thinking hard, speaking up, and listening to each other.

In maths last week Year 5B have had a blast sorting polygons into Venn diagrams – a fun, hands-on way to explore shapes!

Year 5 Blue became Victorian inventors for the day! After researching brilliant inventions, they pitched their ideas to Mr. Pogorzelec in a fierce Dragons’ Den battle! Well done class.

In Science yesterday, we explored planets creatively! Working in groups, we completed a fun search-and-find activity, uncovering fascinating facts about our solar system. Learning together made science exciting!

Last week’s learning in Year5B

The children have loved learning to play musical instruments, exploring rhythms and melodies with growing confidence. Whether drumming, tapping or playing simple tunes, their progress has been fantastic. We can’t wait to showcase their talents!

In class we introduced Paired Reading, where children choose a partner and a book, deciding together how much to read each day. The next day, they discuss their favourite moments, characters, and predictions. It’s wonderful to see their excitement and engagement, strengthening both comprehension and communication skills.
