Y3G learns all about standing long jumps using the correct techniques. We learned breaking the movement into simple, fun components: takeoff, bending the knees, swinging the arms back and landing.

This week in science, Y3G learn about benefits and harmful effects of sun. The sun is essential for life on Earth providing heat, light and energy. While it helps us grow food and stay healthy, it also emits ultraviolet radiation that can be dangerous if we are not careful. Y3G made posters on how to protect ourselves from sun.

Y3G in their music lesson learned about glockenspiel, how to hold the mallets between the thumb and index finger and strike the centre for the best sound. We also learned how to identify and play specific notes and copying rhythm.

Y3G in their P.E lesson today develop spatial awareness and coordination while jumping over bean bags and in hoops. They learn to develop an understanding of a cartwheel motion.

In our science lesson, we built upon our Y1 materials knowledge and learned the definitions of opaque, transparent and translucent. Materials are classified based on how much light they allow to pass through. We investigated different materials in the class room and classified them in the opaque, transparent and translucent materials.

Y3G had their first session of Leadership development workshop with Chris Reddy in our new summer term. In our session, we talked about responsibility and honesty in leadership. We discussed that being honest is being brave and accept the truth with responsibility. Honesty in leadership encourages open communication by setting a foundation of trust. Being honest gives us peace of mind, self-respect and helps create a better society.

Y3G made Easter cards for their families and wishing everyone a happy Easter!

Well done to those children with 100% attendance for this term!

In today’s P:E lesson with Rees Sports Year 3 Green have been learning about orienteering and physical features/ position of the room. They have been learning to thump the map and locate their own position and different physical things placed around them. The children moved across the room to locate their positions differently. They created a trail on the map. Keona is the sports star 🌟 of the week.

Year 3 Green continued working on their orienteering skills this week as well. Today’s focus was developing good communication skills and working in teams . The teams divided into pairs and one member had to direct the other member of their team who were blindfolded across an obstacle course. A lot of trust was required for this activity. Halo and Bradley were our sports stars of the week.
