Year 5 had a workshop delivered by Healthy Minds to discuss different mindsets, and todays was all about the persistent brain which can’t take no for an answer, follows a routine, a worrier and is argumentative.

Bart was born with a physical disability called Arthrogryposis. Â Doctors said he would never walk, may never have the strength to be able to sit up. Bart Has been able to adapt, enabling him to take part in many different activities and live a normal life. These activities include open water swimming, table tennis and driving.

Bart showed Year 5 what it was like to have his disability by setting them a few everyday tasks like writing and getting up off the floor.
Bart is truly an inspiration and it was amazing to learn about his life and the obstacles he has faced, but to truly believe that anything is possible as long as you have perseverance and resilience.








Today the children looked at different types of bullying. How to identify and seek help from a trusted adult. We also spent time talking about good and bad choices and the consequences.





Today Year 5 blue looked at vehicle crime and road safety. As part of the session they tried catching a ball whilst wearing “beer goggles” to help them understand the affect alcohol has on the ability to drive.











Year 5 had a fantastic time doing Zumba this morning.






Year 5 had a lovely morning visiting the Shree Swaminaryan Hindu Temple in Bolton. They learned lots about the Hindu religion and got to explore the beautiful temple.








Fortalice began working with the year 5 children on healthy relationships.

As part of National Science Week, we took part in a whole school experiment to see which biscuit was the best dunker. We choose 5 biscuits and tested them by dunking them in water for 5 seconds and then removing them for 2 seconds to see if the remained intact. We recorded the number of times each biscuit could be dunked without falling apart. We then worked on our conclusion writing, to develop how we interpret results and explain them to the reader.
