This week we have been talking about how to stay safe near roads. We know to stay with an adult and we looked at the safest places to cross a road.
We then created our own road safety posters to help others keep safe!

Grace from Dementia Friends visited year 1 today to tell us all about dementia. We learnt that dementia a disease but that it is NOT the most important thing about a person who suffers from dementia. Grace told us all about how dementia can affect people and how others can support people with dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Society is Year 1’s class charity and so now the children know more about what they are fundraising for this year.

Today we have focused on different emotions. We shared experiences of these emotions and discussed what we should do when we are sad, scared or worried.

We also focused on our emotions in our computing lesson, using our keyboard skills to write about how we were feeling today. The children there enjoyed painting themselves showing their emotion!

Today we had a lovely time enjoying taking part in exercise and then being calm. We had to sit still and think positive thoughts.

We talked about our feelings and emotions in this week’s PSHE lesson. After discussing how to react and help our friends with their emotions, we expressed some of our own using our faces!

In our PSHE lesson this week, we looked at the impact of screens on our mental health.

Today we completed an acrostic poem about Respect. We discussed what respect means and created our poem. This linked to our PHSCE work too.

We had a fabulous day experiencing the languages and traditions of different European countries. We wrote words of peace, designed some beautiful Delft inspired tiles and had a wonderful time in our cafe!
